Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a healthcare discipline focused on the treatment of injuries, illnesses, and deformities through physical methods such as massage, manipulation, and exercise, rather than through drugs or surgery. At its core, physiotherapy aims to restore, maintain, and maximise an individual's strength, function, and overall well-being. Our dedicated team of physiotherapists is committed to helping individuals affected by injury, illness, or disability by promoting movement and exercise, providing manual therapy, and offering thorough education and advice.
We employ a wide range of techniques to address each patient's unique needs. These techniques include manual therapy, which involves hands-on techniques to mobilise joints and soft tissues; exercise prescriptions tailored to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance; and various modalities like ultrasound and electrotherapy to reduce pain and enhance recovery. Our approach is holistic, considering the individual's physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Our goal is not only to alleviate pain and discomfort but also to empower our patients with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage their health independently. By fostering a proactive approach to health and fitness, we help our patients maintain their physical capabilities and improve their quality of life. Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or seeking to enhance your physical performance, our physiotherapy services are designed to support you every step of the way.
Types of Physiotherapy we provide
At Livewell Health, we offer a wide range of specialised physiotherapy services tailored to address various health challenges and promote recovery, strength, and overall well-being. Our expert physiotherapists are dedicated to providing evidence-based care across three key areas: Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy, Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, and Neurological Physiotherapy. Each of these disciplines focuses on specific aspects of physical health, ensuring our patients receive the most effective treatments for their unique needs. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or rebuilding strength after a medical event, our physiotherapy services are designed to help you achieve your goals and regain independence.
MSK (Musculoskeletal)
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing injuries and conditions affecting the muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. Whether resulting from acute injury, chronic pain, or post-surgical recovery, MSK physiotherapy aims to restore movement, improve function, and alleviate pain. Through evidence-based techniques and personalised treatment plans, our expert physiotherapists work closely with clients to promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Conditions We Treat in MSK Physiotherapy
Our MSK physiotherapy services cover a wide range of injuries and conditions, including but not limited to sports injuries, back and neck pain, joint pain and stiffness, tendonitis, ligament injuries, and arthritis-related discomfort. We also support recovery from orthopaedic surgeries such as knee replacements or rotator cuff repairs. Additionally, we address workplace-related issues like repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and posture-related discomfort. Our tailored rehabilitation programs combine manual therapy, exercise prescription, and education to ensure a safe and effective return to optimal function.
Cardiorespiratory
Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy is a vital branch of physiotherapy aimed at improving lung function, cardiovascular fitness, and overall strength and endurance. It is particularly beneficial for patients recovering from hospital stays, including those transitioning off medical ventilation. This type of therapy focuses on clearing lung secretions, enhancing oxygen intake, and rebuilding physical function to help individuals regain independence and quality of life. Our physiotherapists provide tailored programs designed to optimise recovery and promote long-term health.
Conditions We Treat in Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy
Our Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy services address a variety of conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and post-lung surgery or injury recovery. We also support patients recovering from cardiac events such as heart attacks, helping them regain cardiovascular strength and endurance. Through a combination of airway clearance techniques, breathing exercises, and fitness-focused rehabilitation, we work with patients to restore function, improve resilience, and enhance overall wellbeing.
Nuerological
Neurological Physiotherapy is a specialised field focused on helping individuals manage and recover from conditions that affect the nervous system. The purpose of this type of therapy is to address complex problems such as muscle weakness, stiffness, balance issues, and sensory changes that can result from neurological disorders. By using targeted techniques and personalised rehabilitation plans, our skilled physiotherapists aim to improve mobility, function, and quality of life for individuals facing these challenges.
Conditions We Treat in Neurological Physiotherapy
Our Neurological Physiotherapy services cater to a wide range of conditions, including stroke recovery, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease, and deficits caused by seizures. Whether working on regaining strength after a stroke, managing the progressive symptoms of MS or Parkinson’s, or addressing sensory and motor challenges, we offer tailored therapies to support recovery and adaptation. Our programs combine hands-on treatments, balance and coordination exercises, and patient education to empower individuals to regain independence and live fuller lives.
Stages of physiotherapy
Injury Assessment
This is one of the most important stages, where we understand the true cause of your injury. Many therapists will focus on the “pain” and this is not always the best way to start an assessment. Subsequently, the pain is usually the effect of another cause. As a result, we need to understand how that injury has occurred before we start treating the pain.
Injury Rehab
Injury Rehabilitation takes on many forms and is very much designed for the individual. Consequently, this is because each and every one of us are unique. With this in mind Injury Rehabilitation is a set of exercises, stretching and muscle manipulation. The time in which it takes an individual to recover varies and will be discussed within the initial injury assessment.
Strength & Conditioning
The final part of your Physio and treatment plan will be the conditioning of the muscles, tendons or ligaments through a structured exercise and training plan.
